At Billy Black HVAC, we start with sending a NATE-certified technician to your home or business to perform a series of diagnostics to not only identify the immediate cause for for your call, but to alert you of any other issues that might be lurking in the background.
As home and business owners ourselves, we understand the importance of getting it right the first time!
Your technician will share their findings and offer guidance in selecting the best repair option to fit your needs. As our techs are not compensated by a sales percentage structure, you can be sure the solutions offered have your best interest at heart.
Best of all, a large majority of repairs can be completed while the technician is still in your driveway, as our service vehicles are stocked with a wide variety of capacitors, motors, contactors, refrigerants and other common culprits of HVAC system failure.
The following are some common complaints we address when called to repair an HVAC system:
And although we're partial to Carrier...
We service all brands of heating and A/C equipment!

An AC that is running but not cooling is often caused by a dirty air filter, blocked condenser coils, low refrigerant or a faulty capacitor. First, replace the air filter and ensure the thermostat is set to cool or auto. If it still blows warm air, it's time to call in the pros to check for refrigerant leaks or other causes for the lack of cold air.
This isn't an easy question to answer! As you've probably seen, HVAC system components, including the furnace, coil and condenser, are manufactured in a wide variety of size, efficiencies (SEER ratings) and options. For a solid, reliable single-stage system, the Carrier Comfort Series fits the bill with total replacement costs ranging between $8,000 and $14,000. If you're looking for industry leading performance and lower lifetime cost of ownership is important, Carrier's Greenspeed line is the best there is. These systems range between $21,000 and $27,000.
IMPORTANT: Beyond the HVAC equipment itself, be sure you're addressing any additional expenses necessary to complete the installation, like ducting modifications, electrical panel upgrades and other improvements. Overlooking these when planning for a system replacement can completely wreck the performance and efficiency of the new install.
The answer to this depends on several variables, most importantly the age of the system, refrigerant in use, and cost of the repair. If the system is more than 10 years old and out of warranty, replacement should definitely be in consideration. This is especially true if your system runs on R-22 refrigerant, which is no longer in production (and therefore VERY expensive per pound). R-410A replaced R-22, but is in the process of being phased out, as well. Equipment using R-410A stopped production on December 31, 2024. Refrigerant is still available to service existing systems, but will follow suit with R-22 as time moves forward. And lastly, if the repair cost is upwards of $5,000, you'll want to discuss pros and cons with your technician to ensure you're making a wise investment. The last thing anyone wants to do is waste money into a failing system.
